The Active Voice 2026
This Spring, we were joined by 14 interns from Valley Regional High School, University of Connecticut, and Eastern Connecticut State University. Together, we helped move the needle on climate policy in CT while empowering young people to get involved with environmental journalism, advocacy, and policy.

Interns attended 5 pedagogical sessions.
Visits to the Capitol
On several trips to Hartford, interns met with
officials,
advocates, and lobbyists.
Civic Engagement through Testimony
Interns submitted both written and virtual testimonies before several different
legislative committees.
Environmental Advocacy through Journalism
Interns covered events, public hearings, and publish op-eds on critical topics.
Highlights and Intern Testimonials
Agency, accessibility, and amplification allowed interns to take the next
steps towards building a safer future.
